Test Engineer

Smart layers is a company that provides an intelligent document processing platform to its customers. We focus on SOA document understanding technologies such as NLP, Computer Vision, Graph learning, and similar techniques.

As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for fully validating our applications before they are put on production environments. You will work closely with the production team to understand why we're building the product and what the specific requirements are. The most important part of the role for me is to design and architect quality assurance and testing procedures into our existing and evolving development processes and deployment processes. You will define and run a series of tests through all stages of production to identify potential malfunctions and recommend improvements. Ultimately, you'll ensure our final products meet our safety and quality standards.

What you'll do

• Gather product requirements (e.g. functionalities, speed, safety)
• Create a battery of tests exactly corresponding to the specification which will be validated
• Build automated testing systems for regular checks
• Carry out the battery of tests until the product is satisfactory in view of the imposed test standards
• Run quality controls on components and final products
• Continue to monitor the software performance through daily monitoring: validation scripts continue to run, but they have become non-regression scripts.
• Monitor all production stages to ensure safety procedures are followed
• Analyze test results, detect issues and track root causes
• Suggest fixes and improvements
• Document technical issues and solutions
• Accurate reporting
• Deliver the validated software
• Ensure our products and procedures

What you know

• Previous experience as a Test Engineer or similar role
• Familiarity with various testing techniques
• Hands-on experience with Software Quality Management
• Great troubleshooting skills
• Analytical mindset

Nice to have

• Direct QA Experience in either machine learning project is a plus

What we look for:

• BSc in science, technology, engineering, or relevant field_
• 3+ years QA automation experience or equivalent
• Desire to learn and solve problems no matter the technology
• Experienced in Python or Rust
• Experienced in API testing
• Experienced in mongo
• Experienced with the Atlassian family of products (Jira, Confluence)
• Experience using Git
• Experienced in Docker / K8s tools is a plus
• Experience in C++ or Go is a plus
